Fifth Wednesday Lent, 2020

Yesterday we posted a sign-up for anyone who is advanced in years or has a medical condition and would feel more comfortable if their fellow parishioner picked up their groceries or medicine and also a place to volunteer to assist your neighbor in that way. I also want to extend a similar offer to any of our doctors/nurses/medical professionals. If you need help with errands, need to talk, or just need some coffee feel free to sign up there on the site (Lending a Hand) or contact me directly anytime. Enjoy some Louis Armstrong…

Solemnity of the Annunciation, 2020

Happy feast of the Annunciation! We will be live-streaming Mass at 6 PM tonight, so be sure to join us. Just want to leave you with a beautiful prayer that celebrates the events of this day when a tiny ray of light shone in the darkness of the world and would eventually illuminate it all—the Angelus:

The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary:
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord: Be it done unto me according to Thy word.

Hail Mary...

And the Word was made Flesh: And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary...
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord.

Amen.

Fourth Tuesday Lent, 2020

So the bread turned out good. Well, not bad at least, it’s pretty good. It’s especially good when it’s toast. Now, the word for toast in Italian is “tost”, and it’s kind of a hilarious word. They have this thing at McDonalds in Italy called a “McTost”…now I’m not promoting going to McDonalds when you are in Italy, every restaurant and person’s kitchen has incredible food, but, at McDonalds they have this great thing called a McTost. A McTost is two hamburger buns flipped around so the round puffy parts are on the inside and they put one piece of prosciutto and one piece of cheese and put it in a panini press…seems simple (word of the day) but it’s so good for some reason. Speaking of Italy, I’m including this great video Fr. Victor’s mom found. The Italian people are bearing some of the worst of this virus, but they are a beautiful people.

Thanks

Stay safe and God bless,

Fr. Alex
